Step 5 of 6

After approval

Do this now

  1. 1See the treatment through
  2. 2Claim the benefit for the period you cannot work
  3. 3If symptoms remain, request a disability assessment

What to prepare

  • The approval notice
  • Medical records
  • Proof of time off work
  • Advice on whether further treatment is needed

Approval is the start, not the end. Seeing treatment through matters.

Don't rush to finish treatment

  • Even if the company says "stop coming now," that is for the doctor to judge.
  • Stopping halfway makes it harder to have later effects recognised.
  • If pain remains, say so plainly. Enduring it is not a virtue.

Living during treatment

  • Temporary disability benefit supports you while you cannot work — you must claim it.
  • Check the amount and duration with 1588-0075.
  • If money is tight, also ask 129 about emergency support.

After treatment ends

  • If impairment remains, claim the permanent disability benefit. A grade is assessed.
  • If it worsens later, you can request further treatment. It is not closed.
  • Ask COMWEL whether return-to-work support is available.

Work and residence

  • Consult 1345 about your residence status while receiving treatment.
  • If returning to that workplace is difficult, ask 1350 or 1577-0071 whether a workplace change is possible.

Say it like this

  • 아직 아픕니다. 치료를 더 받고 싶습니다.

ajik apeumnida. chiryo-reul deo batgo sipseumnida.

It still hurts. I would like to continue treatment.

  • 휴업급여를 신청하고 싶습니다.

    hyueop-geubyeo-reul sincheonghago sipseumnida.

I would like to claim the temporary disability benefit.

Take care

Before signing anything saying you have recovered, check honestly whether pain remains.
