Emergency response to stalking

Batay sa Agosto 2026Awtomatikong salinPinagmulan: 경찰청14 tingin

Stalking is a crime in Korea. "I just like you" is not a justification.

What counts as stalking

  • Following you, or waiting outside your home or workplace
  • Repeated calls, texts and messages
  • Leaving or sending objects
  • Watching or contacting you constantly on social media
  • Trying to reach you through acquaintances
  • Repeating it after you refused

What to do now

  1. If you are in danger, call 112. If you cannot speak, text 112.
  2. Keep a record — date, time, place, what happened. Write it every time.
  3. Gather evidence — messages, call logs, photos, CCTV, social media screenshots.
  4. Block them, but do not delete the evidence. Screenshot first, then block.
  5. Tell people around you — landlord, colleagues, building security. Being the only one who knows is dangerous.
  6. Report to the police and request protective measures, such as a restraining order.

Questions people ask

It's my ex-partner or ex-spouse. Stalking is a crime regardless of the relationship. You can report even an ex.

It's a colleague. Workplace stalking can also be reported to 1350. Ask the company to separate you.

They haven't actually harmed me yet. Stalking is a crime in itself, and early reporting matters. Start recording and reporting before it escalates.

Won't reporting make them angrier? Tell the police that concern and request protection. Handling it alone is more dangerous.

Take care

Do not delete the evidence. It is tempting to delete unpleasant messages — screenshot first, then delete. Change your door code, vary your route, and share your location only with people you trust.
