Patakaran sa Privacy

SOS Korea (soskorea.kr) is a community for foreign residents in Korea. This policy explains what we receive, what we use it for, and when we delete it.

1. What we collect

Account — your email address. Used only to register and sign you in.
Profile — nickname, profile photo (optional), nationality, language, and user type. Nationality and language are used to show the site in your language.
What you write — posts, comments, marketplace listings, cafe names and descriptions.
Collected automatically — join date, post and comment counts, view records, server access logs.
Optional — if you apply for expert verification, your credential document. Used only to verify you, and visible only to administrators.
Crisis companion progress — how far you have read is visible only to you. Administrators cannot see it either.

2. Social login

You can sign in with a Google or Facebook account.
We receive only your email address and basic profile from the provider.
We never store your password — your login provider holds it.
We do not send anything you write or do here back to Google or Facebook.

3. Why we use it

To create your account and sign you in.
To provide the boards, cafes, marketplace, guides and crisis companion.
To show the site and other people's posts in your language.
To handle reports and enforce community rules.
To answer your enquiries.
We do not use it for advertising or marketing.

4. Processors we use

Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage. Servers are in the Amazon Web Services Seoul region.
Google Cloud Translation — only when translation is used. The title and body of that post or comment are sent for translation.
Google and Meta (Facebook) — only when you use social login.
We do not sell or hand your personal data to anyone else.

5. Transfers outside Korea

When translation is used, the content of that post or comment may be sent to servers outside Korea for processing.
If you prefer not to, turn off automatic translation in settings and do not press the translate button. The service works fully without translation.

6. How long we keep it

Account and profile — until your deletion request is completed.
Posts and comments — until you delete them or close your account.
Reports and sanctions — kept for a period after handling, because repeat violations must be identifiable.
Server access logs — for the period set by applicable law.
Where the law requires longer retention, we follow that period.

7. Your rights

You can view and correct your information at any time — change it yourself in settings.
You may ask us to stop processing your data or withdraw your consent.
We will not disadvantage you for making a request.
Children under 14 may not register.

8. How to request deletion

Self-service account closure is not built yet. Until it is, please request by email.
Write to loveyes9@daum.net from the email address you registered with — that lets us verify you quickly.
On receiving your request we delete your account and profile, and confirm with you whether to delete your posts and comments as well.
We will tell you by email once it is done.

9. How we protect it

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.
Row-level access control in the database means data that is not yours cannot even be queried.
Administrator access is granted to as few people as possible.
Passwords are never stored on our servers.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we post it here with the new effective date.
Significant changes are announced before they take effect.
