If you are robbed
If you are robbed, do not try to protect your belongings. Money and possessions can be earned again.
In the moment
- Do not resist. Hand over what is demanded.
- Make eye contact but do not provoke.
- Observe what you can remember — height, build, clothing, accent, scars, direction of escape.
- Once away, call 112 immediately.
Afterwards
- Call 112. If you are still in danger, give your location first.
- If injured, go to 119 or a hospital. Get a medical certificate.
- Freeze your cards and phone — 1332, your card companies.
- Leave the scene as it is and wait for the police.
- Ask them to check CCTV.
- Get the report receipt (case number).
- Get counselling. Anxiety and insomnia after a robbery are common.

Questions people ask
It happened while I was out alone at night. It is not your fault. Report it.
I didn't see the robber's face. Report anyway. CCTV, phone records and other cases may connect.
I have no valid status. Protecting the victim comes first when a crime is reported. You can also go through a support centre.
Can I recover my losses? There is a crime victim support scheme. Ask 132 or the police.
Take care
Turn on location sharing when out alone late. Sharing live location with family or a friend helps enormously if something happens. Carry cash split between places.
