Questions people ask
Can I claim wages without valid status? You have the right to be paid for work you did, regardless of status. Start with counselling.
My employer says he will fire me if I report. Retaliating for a report is illegal. Mention this during the counselling too.
Will they calculate what I am owed? Counselling can explain the standards. The amount depends on hours and contract terms, so bring your records.
Take care
Do not assume it is over once you leave the job. Wage claims can be made within a set period — check your own case with 1350. Never sign a document you do not understand because the employer asks you to.
