Using migrant workers' support centres
Don't try to solve it alone. There are places where you can be advised in your own language.
What they offer
- Labour advice in your language — unpaid wages, industrial accidents, dismissal, workplace change
- Help writing and translating documents — complaints, applications
- Accompaniment to institutions — labour offices, employment centres, hospitals
- Korean classes
- Referrals for medical and living support
- Shelter referral (some centres)

- Call 1350 (Ministry of Employment and Labour) and ask for your nearest centre.

- Check support organisation information at www.moel.go.kr.
- Local family centres and migrant support organisations also refer labour cases.
What to bring
- Alien Registration Card and passport
- Employment contract
- Payslips and bank records
- Text and KakaoTalk records
- Photographs, medical certificates and other evidence
Organising these as photos in advance makes the consultation much faster.

Questions people ask
Does it cost money? Consultations are generally free. Check before you go.
My status is precarious — can I still go? You can be advised. Being honest about your situation lets them look for what is possible with you. If you are nervous, start with a phone consultation.
Is my language available? It varies by centre. 1350 and 1577-1366 provide interpretation in many languages.
I'm worried my company will find out. What you discuss is not passed to your employer without your consent. Tell the counsellor your concerns up front.

Never pay a broker or a "fixer". Public advice services are free and far safer. Anyone asking for money to handle the procedure for you is usually running a scam.
