Support programmes for marriage migrants
There are staged support programmes from arrival through settlement. The Family Center is the main gateway.
What is offered
- Early settlement support — basics of life in Korea, administrative procedures
- Korean classes — by level, including home visits
- Korea Immigration and Integration Program (KIIP) — Korean language and understanding Korean society; linked to permanent residence and naturalisation requirements.
- Family relationship programmes — couple and in-law education, communication
- Employment support — vocational training, qualifications, job matching
- Parenting support — parent education, help with children's study
- Interpretation and translation
- Counselling — psychological, legal, violence

- Discuss which programme fits your stage.
- Apply and check the schedule.
- KIIP needs a separate application. Check the Social Integration Network via HiKorea.

Questions people ask
Why does KIIP matter? Completing it helps meet the Korean language and social understanding requirements for permanent residence and naturalisation. The earlier you start, the better.
My child is small and I can't go out. There are home visiting services and online courses. Tell the centre your situation.
I have no time because of work. Some centres run evening, weekend or online courses.
Does it cost money? Most are free. Sometimes there is a small charge for materials.
Take care
Brokers offering to "complete the programme for you" are fraud. You must complete it yourself, and false completion is grounds for cancelling your status.
