Reporting a change or addition of workplace

Batay sa Agosto 2026Awtomatikong salinPinagmulan: 법무부 출입국·외국인정책본부8 tingin

If you are here on an employment status, a change of workplace must be reported or authorised.

It depends on your status

  • Statuses needing prior permission — you must be authorised before you move. Moving first is a violation.
  • Statuses where a later report suffices — report within the deadline after moving.
  • Adding a workplace — working in two or more places may need separate permission or a report.

Always confirm with 1345 which applies to you. Getting the order wrong is costly.

Steps

  1. Call 1345 before you move and confirm the procedure. This matters most.
  2. Obtain permission first if required.
  3. Apply or report through HiKorea e-services or an immigration office.
  4. Check and keep the result.

What you need (typically)

  • Alien Registration Card and passport
  • Employment contract
  • New employer documents such as a copy of the business registration
  • Documents about the previous job, such as confirmation of leaving

Where to go

  • 1345 Immigration Contact Centre (20 languages)
  • HiKorea www.hikorea.go.kr
  • Your local immigration office
  • 1350 Ministry of Employment and Labour (working conditions)
  • 1577-1366 Danuri Helpline

Questions people ask

What if I work elsewhere without permission? It becomes out-of-status activity or a workplace violation, and can lead to penalties, cancellation of status and deportation. Never move on your own initiative.

My company says they will file it. Even so, confirm yourself that it was done. You are the one who bears the consequences.

I want to take a second part-time job. Whether it is allowed depends on your status. Ask 1345 first. Students have a separate part-time work permit.

My company dismissed me suddenly. Depending on status there are job-seeking periods and workplace change procedures. Contact 1345 immediately, and consult 1350 about wage issues.

Take care

"Start work now, report later" is the most dangerous choice. On some statuses that alone can cancel your residence. One call to 1345 before you move is the safest thing you can do.
