Documents for extending your stay
One missing document is enough to get an extension rejected. Gather the common items first, then check the extras for your status on HiKorea.
Who needs this
- Any long-term resident applying to extend their stay
Common documents
- Passport (check remaining validity)
- Alien Registration Card
- Integrated application form — HiKorea
- Proof of address — lease contract, dormitory confirmation
- Fee — check the current amount on HiKorea
Extra documents by status
- Work (E-9, E-7…): employment certificate, labour contract, copy of business registration
- Study (D-2, D-4): enrolment certificate, grades and attendance, proof of tuition payment
- Marriage (F-6): marriage certificate, spouse's ID, family relation documents
- Dependent (F-3): the main resident's documents

Questions people ask
My documents are in another language. A translation and notarisation or apostille may be required. Check in advance.
Can I submit with one item missing? It will usually not be accepted, or you will be asked to supplement it — another trip.
Take care
Do not pay a broker who offers to "produce" documents. Forged documents are grounds for cancelling your status.
