Finding your immigration office
Immigration business is generally handled at the office covering your address. Going without a booking can be a wasted trip.
Where to go
- Immigration offices, branch offices and sub-offices exist nationwide.
- In principle, go to the office for your registered address. Check jurisdiction on HiKorea (www.hikorea.go.kr).
- Calling 1345 is the fastest way to find out.
Before you go
- Book a visit on HiKorea. See immigration-visit-reservation.
- Check the required documents. One missing document means coming back.
- Check first whether it can be done online. Many matters do not require a visit. See e-government-for-foreigners.
- Check how to pay the fee.
What to bring
- Passport and Alien Registration Card
- The application form (downloadable and completable in advance on HiKorea)
- Documents for your specific matter
- The fee
- Photographs where needed — check the specifications

Questions people ask
Can I go without a booking? It depends on the matter and office, but many require one in principle. Without it you may wait a long time or not be seen at all.
Can I use an office other than my own? It depends on the matter. Check with 1345.
I don't speak Korean. Call 1345 in advance to confirm the procedure, and use 1577-1366 three-way interpretation on site.
I'm missing one document. Your application may not be accepted. Confirming the document list with 1345 before going is the surest approach.
Take care
Beware brokers who approach outside immigration offices offering to "handle it for you". Paying them for false documents means you are the one punished, and your status is cancelled. Every procedure can be explained free of charge by 1345.
