Finding your embassy in Korea
Your embassy helps its nationals with passports, birth registration, identity and emergencies.
What embassies help with

An embassy cannot resolve Korean legal matters for you, but it can help with interpretation, lists of lawyers and contacting family at home.
How to find it
- Search the list of missions in Korea on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs site (www.mofa.go.kr).
- Search "[country] embassy Seoul" to find the official website.
- You can also ask 1330 (tourist interpretation, 24 hours).

Questions people ask
Can I contact my embassy if I'm arrested? Yes. You have the right to request consular access. Ask the police to notify your embassy. See police-rights.
My country has no embassy in Korea. A mission in a nearby third country may have concurrent accreditation. Check the ministry's list.
I lost my passport and my embassy is far away. Report the loss to the police first, then phone the embassy to ask how to proceed. Some accept postal applications.
Will the embassy interpret Korean for me? Embassies work in your own language. For interpretation with Korean institutions, use 1345 or 1577-1366.
Take care
Save the embassy number both on your phone and on paper. If you lose your phone or are detained and can't recall the number, contact becomes hard. Keeping it in your wallet is wise.
