The D-10 job seeking visa
D-10 lets you job-hunt before switching to a work status. The period is limited, so plan carefully.

Steps
- Get advice before graduating — your international office and 1345.
- Apply to change to D-10. Some sub-types use a points assessment.
- Record your job-seeking activity — applications, interviews, training attended.
- Once you have a job, change to E-7 or similar.
- If time runs short, check whether an extension is possible.

Questions people ask
Can I work on D-10? It is a job-seeking status in principle; proper employment requires a change of status first. Internships may need a separate permit — check with 1345.
My period is ending and I have no job. Speak to immigration before it expires. Leaving it means overstaying.
Which companies sponsor E-7? The role must fall within E-7 eligible fields and the company must meet requirements. Ask at interview whether they have hired foreign staff before.
How do I evidence job-seeking? Keep application emails, interview confirmations and job fair records.
