Adults need vaccinations too, especially depending on your work environment and age.

Recommended for adults

• Influenza — every autumn. Often free for over-65s, pregnant women and others.
• Tetanus (Td/Tdap) — periodically. Especially important if your work carries injury risk.
• Hepatitis B — if you have no antibodies.
• Hepatitis A
• MMR — recommended for adults without antibodies during outbreaks.
• Pneumococcal — for over-65s and others.
• HPV — by age and sex criteria.
• Tuberculosis screening — not a vaccine, but regular checking matters.

1. Ask the public health centre whether you qualify for free vaccination.
2. Find a clinic at nip.kdca.go.kr or nearby.
3. Check your vaccination history. Bring records from your home country if you have them.

Questions people ask

I was pierced by something rusty. There is a tetanus risk. Go to hospital immediately for wound care and to check whether you need a tetanus shot. If it happened at work, it is an industrial accident.

When should I get the flu shot? Usually in autumn. It must be before winter arrives to be effective.

They told me to have tuberculosis screening. Some visa statuses require it. You can be screened at a public health centre, and if it is found, the state supports treatment.

Do I need to repeat shots I had at home? Often not, if you have the records. Bring them and ask.

Take care

If you work in a factory or on a construction site, check when your tetanus shot is due. It enters through wounds and is hard to treat. Your public health centre can tell you.
