There are places to go at night and on holidays. A&E is not the only answer.

Your options

  1. Moonlight children's hospitals (달빛어린이병원) — designated clinics treating children at night and on holidays, run region by region.
  2. Night clinics — neighbourhood clinics marked "야간진료".
  3. Holiday duty pharmacies — pharmacies open on holidays.
  4. A&E — for emergencies. It can cost more. See emergency-room-use.
  5. 119 ambulance — when you cannot travel or the situation is urgent.

How to find one

  1. Go to e-gen (www.e-gen.or.kr) → choose your area → see clinics and pharmacies open now.
  2. Or call 119 for guidance.
  3. For a child, check the Moonlight children's hospital first.
  4. Phone ahead to confirm they can see you.
  5. Bring ID and proof of insurance eligibility.

What you need

  • Alien registration card

Questions people ask

A&E or a night clinic — which? Life-threatening symptoms mean A&E. For a mild cold or a sprain, a night clinic or the next morning is better. See emergency-symptoms.

I need medicine at night. Find a holiday duty pharmacy on e-gen. Convenience stores also sell some basic remedies. See otc-medicine.

My child has a fever at night. Check for a Moonlight children's hospital. With breathing difficulty, seizures or floppiness, call 119.

I don't speak Korean. 1345 provides interpretation, and e-gen has English pages.

Take care

A&E prioritises serious cases. With mild symptoms you may wait a long time and pay more. Conversely, never wait on urgent symptoms.
