Infant and toddler health check-ups

Batay sa Agosto 2026Awtomatikong salinPinagmulan: 국민건강보험공단16 tingin

These free check-ups track your child's growth and development. What is examined changes with age.

What is checked

  • Height, weight, head circumference — the growth curve
  • Developmental screening — sitting, walking, speaking, social skills
  • Vision and hearing
  • Oral examination — teeth
  • Questionnaire and counselling — sleep, feeding, safety

The check-up ages are fixed and there are several. Check with 1577-1000 or the baby's handbook.

Steps

  1. Check the notice. The Service sends one, and the schedule is in the handbook.
  2. Find a screening centre at www.nhis.or.kr or a paediatric clinic.
  3. Book and bring the baby's handbook.
  4. Fill the questionnaire in advance, describing your child's development.
  5. Attend and check the results.
  6. If "further evaluation recommended" appears, always get the additional assessment.

What you need

  • The baby's handbook
  • Child and parent identity details
  • Health insurance details
  • The completed questionnaire

Questions people ask

My child seems slow to speak. Speech can come slightly later in a bilingual home, but it is worth checking. If needed, you can be referred to language development support.

The result says "further evaluation recommended". Do not panic — get the assessment. Developmental issues improve most when addressed early.

I can't fill the questionnaire in Korean. Ask a Family Center or 1577-1366 for help. Multilingual versions sometimes exist.

Is my foreign-national child eligible? It follows health insurance eligibility. Check with 1577-1000.

Take care

The earlier development is checked, the better. "They'll grow out of it" is what causes missed windows. If you are worried, see a paediatrician even outside the scheduled times.
