Using simple payment apps (KakaoPay, Toss and others)

Batay sa Agosto 2026Awtomatikong salinPinagmulan: 금융감독원 파인9 tingin

Simple payment apps link your account or card to make transfers and payments easy. They are simpler than bank apps.

What you can do

  • Transfers — send to a friend knowing only their phone number
  • Payments — QR or barcode payment in shops
  • Splitting bills
  • Paying utilities and transport
  • Checking balances and spending

Steps

  1. Install the app.
  2. Verify your identity. You need a phone in your own name and your Alien Registration Card.
  3. Link an account or card.
  4. Set a payment PIN.
  5. Try a small amount first.

What you need

  • A phone in your own name
  • Alien Registration Card
  • A bank account or card

Where to go

  • Each app's customer centre
  • 1332 Financial Supervisory Service
  • 112 to report fraud · 1332 voice phishing advice

Questions people ask

Can foreign residents sign up? Usually yes, with a phone in your name and an Alien Registration Card. Some apps have restrictions.

Are there limits? Yes. Transfer limits depend on your level of identity verification.

I sent money to the wrong person. If they will not return it, there is a mistaken-transfer return scheme. Contact 1332.

Can I send money abroad? Some apps support it. Compare fees and rates with your bank.

Take care

Never install an app from a link sent by a stranger. Texts saying "you have a refund" or "your parcel was returned" are fraud. Install only from the official app store. Always check the recipient's name before sending.
