Using food delivery apps
Korea's delivery culture is highly developed. With an app, almost any food comes to you.
The main apps
- Baemin (배달의민족), Coupang Eats, Yogiyo — the most used.
- Naver and Kakao ordering functions
- Ordering directly from the shop — possible by phone, but needs Korean.
How to order
- Install the app and register. Mobile identity verification is required.
- Register your address — enter the exact building and unit number. See korean-address.
- Choose a shop and menu.
- Write your requests — for example "less spicy", "no disposable cutlery".
- Pay — card, simple payment, or cash on delivery.
- Track the delivery.
What to check
- Minimum order amount
- Delivery fee — varies by distance and time.
- Estimated arrival time
- Allergens and ingredients — spice, pork, seafood. If unsure, ask the shop before ordering.
If something goes wrong
- Food doesn't arrive or is wrong — ask through the app first. Take photos.
- Refunds are requested through the app's customer centre.
- If unresolved, contact 1372 (Consumer Counselling Centre).
- If the food made you ill, keep photos and the receipt and see a doctor. In serious cases you can report to 1339 or a public health centre.

Questions people ask
I can't read Korean. Many apps have photo menus, and with a translation app it isn't hard. Some apps support English.
I don't eat pork or beef. Translate the menu description to check, and note it in the requests. To be certain, look for halal or vegetarian restaurants. See halal-food.
The rider left it at the door. Selecting "leave at the door" produces exactly that. If it disappeared, contact the app immediately.
Can I pay cash? Some shops support payment on delivery, though card payment is more common.
Take care
A wrong address sends your food elsewhere. On your first order, register the exact unit number and access method (door codes). Putting the building entrance code in the requests field makes it easier.
