Booking films and performances

Batay sa Agosto 2026Awtomatikong salinPinagmulan: 영화진흥위원회3 tingin

Online booking is the norm, and there are several ways to get a discount.

How to book

  1. Cinema apps — CGV, Lotte Cinema, Megabox and others. You pick your seat.
  2. Ticketing sites — Interpark, Yes24, Ticketlink for performances and exhibitions.
  3. Collecting on site — use the kiosk with your booking number or QR code.
  4. Identity verification is sometimes required. See phone-verification.
  5. Cancellation and refunds follow rules based on the start time. Check them beforehand.

Worth knowing

  • Subtitles — foreign films usually carry Korean subtitles. Some screenings of Korean films have English subtitles; check the "자막" marking in the app.
  • Dubbing — animations often screen in both dubbed and subtitled versions.
  • Discounts — early morning, late night, telecom partnerships, culture vouchers. See culture-voucher.
  • Culture Day — a scheme discounting admission on a set day each month.
  • Free performances — councils and cultural foundations hold many events.

Venue etiquette

  • Latecomers may not be admitted after the start.
  • Switch phones off or to silent.
  • Photography and recording are usually prohibited.
  • Some venues restrict food and drink.

Where to go

  • Cinema and ticketing apps
  • 1330 tourist information (multilingual)
  • culture.go.kr culture portal (event listings)
  • Community centres and cultural foundations (free and discounted performances)
  • 1372 consumer counselling (refund disputes)

Questions people ask

Can I watch films without Korean? Foreign films usually run in the original language with Korean subtitles. For English-subtitled screenings, check the screening details in the app.

Booking online is difficult. Use the kiosk at the venue or buy at the box office.

I'd like a discount. Early morning screenings are cheapest. If you qualify for a culture voucher, you can get support. See culture-voucher.

They say no refunds. Rules are based on the start time. If it seems unfair, consult 1372.

Take care

Buying tickets through second-hand trading carries a high fraud risk. Use official sellers — already-used QR codes are sold on. Check the cancellation policy before booking and keep your payment record.
