Filing the claim

Filing is free. There is no reason to pay a broker.

Where to file

• COMWEL, 1588-0075 — you can request an interpreter.
• Online: COMWEL www.comwel.or.kr
• In person: the COMWEL branch covering the workplace or hospital.
• Hospital administration offices often help with the forms. Say "I want to file an industrial accident claim."

What you are claiming

Right after an injury you usually start with medical care benefit (treatment costs). Depending on your situation you may also claim:

• Medical care benefit — the cost of treatment.
• Temporary disability benefit — support while you cannot work.
• Permanent disability benefit — where impairment remains after treatment.
• Nursing benefit, survivors' benefit and others exist for particular situations.

Check amounts and criteria with COMWEL. Do not plan around any figure written here.

What to put in the form

1. Date, time and place of the accident
2. How it happened — specifically what you were doing and how you were hurt.
3. The diagnosis — exactly as on the certificate.
4. Witnesses
5. Workplace details — company name and address.

Even without the employer's confirmation

It is accepted without the company's stamp. COMWEL investigates directly. Say in the form or in your consultation that they refused.
