Types of industrial accident benefit

Approval brings more than medical costs. Depending on your situation you can claim several benefits.

The main benefits

1. Medical care benefit — treatment costs, paid directly to the hospital.
2. Absence benefit — part of your wages for the period you could not work.
3. Disability benefit — where a disability remains after treatment.
4. Nursing benefit — where you need care from another person.
5. Survivors' benefit and funeral costs — for the family in case of death.
6. Injury and disease compensation pension — for severe cases that do not improve with long treatment.
7. Vocational rehabilitation benefit — training and support to return to work.

Amounts and conditions depend on your average wage and the degree of disability. Check your own case with 1588-0075.

Steps

1. Start with the medical care benefit.
2. Claim absence benefit if you cannot work.
3. Have your degree of disability assessed once treatment ends.
4. Claim disability benefit if applicable.

Can I receive benefits after leaving Korea? It depends on the case. Before departure, check with 1588-0075 and sort out your account.

The company paid me wages equal to the absence benefit. Check with the service whether they overlap. You do not have to give up the benefit because the company paid instead.

My disability grade came out low. You can appeal. Get advice from 132 or a support centre.

Treatment ended but it still hurts. Re-treatment can sometimes be claimed. Ask the service.
