Family conflict counselling

Family problems don't improve by enduring them. Counselling is free and confidential.

What they cover

How to use them

1. Phone or visit a family centre (formerly healthy family and multicultural family support centres).
2. 1577-1366, the Danuri Call Centre, counsels in 13 languages.
3. Describe your situation at the initial consultation.
4. Continue with individual, couple or family counselling as needed.
5. Where there is violence, you are directed to immediate protection. See dv-shelter.

What you need

• No particular documents — a single phone call starts it.
• Alien registration card, when applying for programmes
• Tell them in advance which language you need

Questions people ask

Will my family be told what I said? It is confidential. Nothing is disclosed without your consent.

I don't speak Korean. 1577-1366 counsels in several languages, and family centres arrange interpretation.

My husband/wife refuses counselling. You can be counselled alone. Simply finding your own way to respond helps.

What if there is violence? Safety comes before counselling. Call 112 and contact 1366. See dv-shelter and dv-legal-support.

Violence, threats and confinement are not "family conflict" — they are crimes. Don't endure them; call 112 or 1366. Even if you worry about your residence status, secure your safety first and find the way forward through counselling.
