Where to get free advice
- Korea Legal Aid Corporation 132 — nationwide. Advice free; litigation support assessed.
- Legal Home Doctor — free advice from lawyers placed at local governments and welfare bodies.
- Local government legal clinics — city, county and district offices run them on set days.
- Migrant workers' support centres — labour advice and referrals.
- Migrant support NGOs — some offer multilingual advice. See ngo-support.
- Korean Bar Association legal aid foundation — support depending on the case.
How to use them
- Work out which field the problem falls in (labour, tenancy, family, criminal, debt).
- Book by phone with the relevant service.
- Bring your evidence to the appointment.
- Confirm what to do next — a content-certified letter, a report, litigation.
- If litigation is needed, ask whether you can apply for legal aid.

Questions people ask
I don't know where to start. Call 132 first. If it's outside their field they will point you to the right place.
I need interpretation. Request it through 1345 or 1577-1366, or ask a local migrant organisation to accompany you.
Can advice alone solve it? Often yes — a content-certified letter or a formal report resolves matters. Make sure you leave knowing the next step.
When do I need a private lawyer? When the case is complex or you don't qualify for aid. Get the fee and its scope in writing.
Take care
Beware of brokers who demand money to "introduce you to a lawyer". Official services never charge for advice. Take notes and record the adviser's name and contact details.
