Flood and fire support
Fire means 119; rising water means evacuate. Support comes afterwards.
Flood damage
- Cut the electricity and move somewhere safe. Don't touch submerged appliances.
- Electrocution risk remains after the water drains — have appliances checked before use.
- Photograph everything and report at the community centre.
- You can request disinfection. Ask your public health centre.
- In rented housing, tell the landlord immediately as well.
Fire damage
- Calling 119 and evacuating come first. See fire-emergency.
- Get a fire certificate (화재증명원) from the fire station. It is the key document for support applications.
- Report the damage at the community centre.
- You can request temporary housing — a shelter or interim accommodation.
- If you have fire insurance, notify the insurer.

I'm a tenant and have nowhere to live. Ask the community centre for temporary housing support. The deposit is a separate matter needing advice — try 132, Korea Legal Aid Corporation.

Why do I need the fire certificate? It is the basic evidence for both support applications and insurance claims. Always obtain one.
I have no insurance. Look first at public support and local welfare resources. The community centre and 129 are the way in.
Take care
Flooded electrical installations and gas must be inspected before use. A fire site can reignite — don't enter without the fire service's permission. Put restoration contracts in writing and be wary of demands for money up front.
