Support for people with disabilities

If you have a disability, registration opens up various support. The same applies to your child.

What is available

• Disability registration — the starting point

Steps

1. Get a disability diagnosis at a hospital, on the prescribed form and criteria.
2. Apply for registration at your community service centre.
3. After assessment, the degree of disability is determined.
4. You are told what support you can receive.
5. Apply for individual services.

Questions people ask

Can foreign residents register a disability? It depends on visa status. Check your own case at the community centre. Even without registration, there are routes to medical and rehabilitation services.

I'm worried about my child's development. Check at the infant health check-up and get a detailed developmental assessment if needed. The earlier the better. See the child-health-check guide.

I was injured at work and have a lasting disability. Consider industrial accident disability benefit and disability registration together. Ask 1588-0075 and the community centre.

The process is hard without Korean. Ask a Family Center or disability welfare centre to accompany you. Use 1577-1366 interpretation.

If your child's development seems delayed, do not wait. It may be the bilingual environment, but there is nothing to lose by checking. Early intervention changes outcomes greatly.
