Part-time work permits for students
Students cannot work without permission. With a permit you may work within set hours.
What to know
- Prior permission is required — before you start working.
- There is a weekly hour limit, different during terms and holidays.
- Some businesses are not allowed — entertainment and gambling venues are prohibited.
- Korean ability or grade requirements may apply.

Steps
- Ask your school's international office. School confirmation is needed.
- Choose the workplace and get its details.
- Apply for the part-time work permit on HiKorea.
- Start work only after permission is granted.
- Report and get permission again if you change workplace.

Being caught working without a permit shakes your student status itself. A few months of part-time pay is worth far less than your studies and your stay. Always get the permit first.
