Multiple re-entry permits
A multiple re-entry permit lets you travel in and out repeatedly within your period of stay. It is for people who must go home often.
Who needs it
- People travelling frequently for work or family reasons
- Holders of statuses not covered by the re-entry exemption
- People who must be away longer than the exemption period
Steps
- First check whether you are exempt. Most are, so a separate permit may be unnecessary.
- If needed, apply on HiKorea — online or in person.
- Check the permit period alongside your period of stay. A re-entry permit is not valid beyond your stay.
- Carry your passport and Alien Registration Card when travelling.

Questions people ask
Does a re-entry permit extend my stay? No. Your period of stay is separate. Once it expires, a re-entry permit is of no use.
My stay expires while I'm abroad. Apply for an extension before departing, or adjust your dates. Ask 1345 first.
Can I travel while an extension is under review? It depends on the filing status and your status. Always confirm with immigration before leaving.
I left without a permit. If you are exempt it may be fine. Confirm at immigration inspection, and if worried contact 1345.
Take care
A re-entry permit does not replace your period of stay. Check both dates and plan by whichever comes first.
