The re-entry programme for committed workers
Re-entry for committed workers rewards those who kept their contract to the end. Instead of starting the whole process again, you can return after a short period and work.
Who this covers
- Workers who did not change workplace, or changed only for recognised reasons
- Workers who completed the contract period
- Cases where the employer wants to re-employ you after re-entry
Steps
- Confirm with your employer that they will re-employ you.
- The employer files the re-entry employment application before expiry.
- Leave Korea and spend the required period in your home country.
- Re-enter and start work. Language test and job-seeking steps are waived or simplified.
What you need
- Passport, Alien Registration Card
- Your employment history (whether you changed workplace matters)
- Application documents prepared by the employer
Where to go
- Your employment centre, EPS www.eps.go.kr
- 1350 labour counselling
Questions people ask
Does changing workplace disqualify me? Changes for recognised reasons such as employer fault may still qualify. Check your own history with the employment centre.
How long before I can return? There is a set period. Check the current rule on EPS.
Take care
Brokers who charge to "guarantee re-entry" exist. The application goes through your employer and the employment centre, free of charge.
