If you lose your Alien Registration Card

If you lose your Alien Registration Card you must apply for a reissue. There is a set deadline, so start as soon as you notice.

Steps

1. If it was stolen, report it to the police. Not required for a simple loss, but worth doing if you are worried about identity theft.
2. Apply for a reissue on HiKorea. Online application or a booked visit.
3. Submit documents and pay the fee. Check the current amount on HiKorea.
4. Receive the new card. Check how it is collected (in person or by registered post).
5. Check the places that use your ARC number — banks, telecom providers.

What if I need ID before the new card arrives? Your passport often works instead. Show the application receipt alongside it.

My employer is holding my card. It is not legitimate for an employer to hold your ARC. Get advice from 1350.

I found the old card afterwards. Once you have applied for a reissue the old card is void. Tell immigration and follow their guidance.

Photograph your card in advance — knowing the number speeds things up. But never send that photo to strangers in chat; it is used for identity theft.
